The recent update from GOOGLE seems to have got rid of a lot more junk in my keyword area. I have been waiting for site to drop out of the top pages for a long time. I never felt they deserved to be there and finally they have seen a drastic drop in rankings.
Thank you GOOGLE. It appears it’s a lot harder to rank now, so hopefully only quality sites will deserve to be up there.
My faith is slightly restored in the SERPS.
Anybody else been keeping an eye on competitors / their own site??
It’s really hard to say because they are changing constantly both for me and my competitors. But I still have a couple of sites I don’t seem able to overtake for a couple of keywords even though those sites haven’t been updated for a very long time.
That’s what I was seeing for at least 6 months. Maybe it takes a bit of time. The sites I’ve seen drop I felt should have dropped and have, so lets hope google are doing their job right…
I hate to sound a negative note, Darius. But I suggest you wait a few more days before you celebrate.
I’ve seen sites that were at the top of the SERPS for months on end, then suddenly dropped two or three pages – only to bounce back a week or so later.
As the poet, Oscar Hammerstein, put it: Who can explain it? / Who can reason why? / Fools will give you reasons. / Wise men never try.
Just goes to show that hastily created sites may be successful in the short term but in the longer term they offer little benefit. Generating quality content is key.
I’ve noticed some big shifts in some of my targeted keywords as well (all for the better). Glad to here there is less junk in your keywords aswell, can only mean more traffic for us!
